Acoustic Build Workshop

Eight private bench days building one steel-string acoustic through the sequence that turns parts into a working instrument.

Acoustic rim work in progress during a private build workshop.

This is the full acoustic build process taught through one instrument.

The work follows a complete steel-string build from the structural beginning through the final playable result. I am trying to teach something you can repeat, not mystify it.

The point is to leave with a finished instrument, but also with a clear sense of which decisions matter most: plate work, bracing, neck fit, fretwork, and setup.

At the bench

What we cover

  • Joining and thicknessing plates.
  • Bending sides, rim work, and the structural box.
  • Top work, bracing, and voicing decisions.
  • Binding, neck fitting, fretting, and final setup.

Outcome

What you leave with

  • A finished steel-string acoustic.
  • A clearer build order you can use again.
  • A practical understanding of where the major structural decisions live.
  • A stronger basis for building the next instrument with more confidence.
